I’ve always liked helping people and wanted to be able to use my professional skills to accomplish this. I have volunteered for a number of nonprofits including The Junior League of Greater Portland, Literacy Volunteers, and the Augusta Reads Program, but wanted to have a more substantial impact. It made sense to me to merge my desire to support nonprofit organizations, my business background, and writing ability. To this end, I completed USM’s Certificate Programs in Grant Writing and Fundraising to complement my prior business, proposal writing, and event planning experience.
